MacLean Construction Honours
Retiring Owner Keith MacLean

CHARLOTTETOWN –
After more
than 40 years of building, Keith MacLean is
retiring from his role as President and General Manager of his
family owned business, MacLean Construction. MacLean
Construction was started by Malcolm MacLean,
Keith’s
father, over 60 years ago. MacLean Construction is
responsible for the construction of many buildings on Prince
Edward Island, including St. Marks Presbyterian Church, Vogue
Optical, Murphy Pharmacies, Andrews of Stratford, Belvedere
Funeral Home, and numerous schools across the Province.
Over 150
co-workers, colleagues and friends attended the retirement party
held at the Charlottetown Yacht Club. Well wishers included:
Premier Pat Binns, Charlottetown MP Shawn Murphy, former
Construction Association of P.E.I. General Manager Francis Reid
and MacLean Construction’s new owner, Tim Banks of APM group.
Keith and
his brother, Merrill, took over the business in the 1960s,
growing MacLean Construction into one of the most recognizable
businesses in Charlottetown. MacLean was recently inducted into
the Construction Association of P.E.I. as a lifetime member,
having been involved in the association since its inception. But
aside from personal successes, it is the people involved in the
business that stand out most in MacLean’s view.
“My wife
Jean and I are grateful to our many customers for their business
over the years and to our great staff for their service and
dedication,” he said. “I want to say thank you to them
because it is these people that made the business successful and
will continue to in the future.”
The
business will continue to be operated by current personnel.
Grant MacPherson, will take on the new role of
Vice-President and General Manager of MacLean Construction.
Premier
Pat Binns acknowledged Keith MacLean for his contribution to the
Island construction industry and noted that it was Keith’s hard
work and integrity that made him a leader in the construction
sector in Prince Edward Island. We congratulate Keith on his
distinguished career, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
MacLean
Construction is now a member of the APM group of companies,
based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
