Construction Office Projects
Town of Cornwall, Cornwall, PE
Since the 18th century,
the town of Cornwall has had a rich history of
agriculture and living off the land. It seems fitting
they should have a town hall maintaining the
environmental and traditional aspects of the industry
that is still a large part of the area today.
MacLean’s construction recently completed the spacious
town hall, which features sustainable design elements
such as geothermal heat pumps, automatic lights and
sinks and a solar-oriented design. Kevin McCarville, the
town’s chief administrative officer, said the company
handled the intricacies of the project very well. “We
were pleased with MacLean’s performance. They were on
time and on budget. The staff are very happy here. It’s
a great work environment.”
The town hall is home to Cornwall’s municipal offices,
several community rooms, council chambers and the public
library. The building is made from durable,
maintenance-free materials and is situated in a southern
location which allows more natural light through the
windows. Its brick and
metal siding echoes the New
England architectural influence of the region. The
barn-like roof design reflects the farming heritage that
are the roots of Cornwall.
“Despite a tight budget, the construction company was
very careful with the details of the
environmentally-friendly structure”, said N46
Architecture’s David Lopes, a designer for the town
hall. “MacLean’s were concerned about making sure all
the details were in place. They’re always good to work
with.” Lopes said the project architects are involved
with meeting with the clients to ensure all the details
are being met, but companies like MacLean Construction
are an important in the success of the finished product.
